Overview of Program
gsLEAD for Emerging Leaders is a nine month 35 hour development program consisting of 27 hours of classroom training and eight hours of board observance/mentorship. The program is presented by First Federal. Classes will be held monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September&endash;April. The program will kick off with the first class on August 23, with a reception immediately following and the program will conclude with a graduation luncheon in April 2012. Each class will be 3 hours including 2 hours of basic training and 1 hour for guest speaker.
gsLEAD is a free program open to 16 gsSCENE members. When participants apply they must commit to attending every class and participating in the personal board observation portion of the training. **Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the program and participant will be unable to apply for the program the following year.
Applications will be available April 15, 2011 with an application deadline of June 17, 2011. The Selection committee will meet in the beginning of July to select participants and they will be notified by July 22. For selection process see sheet on Advisory Committee.
Mission
gsLEAD is a nine month leadership development program for young professionals involved in gsSCENE. gsLEAD was created to advance future leaders through personal development, training and mentorship, thus giving them the tools to serve as the next generation of leaders. With completion of this certificate program, gsLEAD graduates will have the knowledge and skills to serve on various nonprofit boards, committees and councils along the Grand Strand.
Goals
The goal of gsLEAD is to provide participants workshops, resources and tools to be viable candidates for leadership positions in the Grand Strand community. Each session the following core course topics will be covered:
